Research Areas

Ollila Lab advances understanding of sleep genetics, brain autoimmunity, and computational biology through interdisciplinary research at FIMM, University of Helsinki.

Sleep and Circadian

The lab studies the biological and genetic basis of sleep and circadian traits, including narcolepsy, sleep apnea, chronotherapy, circadian timing, and genetic discovery.

Brain Autoimmunity

The group investigates autoimmune mechanisms in neurological conditions with a focus on sleep-immune interactions, autoantibody profiling, immune cell analysis, and neurodegeneration.

Bioinformatics and AI

Ollila Lab develops computational methods and AI agents for large-scale genomic and sleep data analysis, including machine learning and bioinformatics pipelines.

Population Genetics and Post-Infectious Disease

The lab uses Finnish and international cohorts, including FinnGen and UK Biobank, to study genetic epidemiology, Long COVID, herpes zoster, and post-infectious disease mechanisms.
